Volcan de Agua

Looking at this beautiful landscape, I can't believe that one day this volcano was active, and it destroyed the first city stablished in Guatemala. The spanish called it "Santiago de los Caballeros de Guatemala", and it was destroyed by "Volcan de Agua" on 1541. Then the capital city moved to Antigua-Guatemala, but then later on 1773 it was again destroyed by another Volcano, this time it was "Volcan de Fuego". And from this year on, the capital city was stablished at the place where it is right now... so I realize that the history of my Country has been really turbulent through the years from earthquakes, tropical storms, through volcanoes.I took this photo last Sunday in my trip to La Antigua, Guatemala.
